You are invited to join Sir Andrew Cahn, CEO,
UK Trade & Investment, The Middle East Association and British Expertise, on a major business development programme in Iraqi Kurdistan between 17 and 21 October 2010, centred on the Erbil International Trade Fair at which the group will have exhibition space.
About the Event
Sir Andrew Cahn, CEO, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), will be leading a major British delegation to develop new business opportunities in Northern Iraq to coincide with the Erbil International Trade Fair. This is the first time that UKTI will have this kind of presence in Iraq since the change of regime in 2003. Delegates will attend the official opening of Erbil International Fair with Sir Andrew Cahn.
The Erbil International Trade Fair has become a hugely important event in Iraq, and because Kurdistan Region is safe and secure, is now a unique national showcase, offering ease of access to all visitors and attracting an impressive cast of major international exhibitors. All the UK’s principal EU competitors will be there and in particular the Turks, Kurdistan’s largest trading partner. Now in its sixth year, it is the largest multi-sector trade show in Iraq. In October 2009, 772 companies from 28 countries exhibited to over 73,000 visitors. The Fair not only attracts Kurdistan government officials and private sector executives, but also company representatives and central government and provincial government officials from all over Iraq. It offers UK companies a golden opportunity to meet Iraqi businesses from all corners of the country.
Members of the delegation will have the chance also to join a programme of meetings with key Kurdish contacts in the private and public sector. These meetings will involve the main Ministries, top private sector companies, key Trade Associations and the Contractors Union, and a chance to link up with Turkish and other overseas contractors and companies already operating in northern Iraq. There will also be a number of networking events to enable members to meet decision makers from across Iraq, all of them eager to do business in Iraqi Kurdistan and elsewhere in the country. It will be the ideal opportunity to network and explore new business opportunities with government officials, investors, traders and distributors. The programme and Fair together will present an unparalleled opportunity to take advantage of Northern Iraq’s fast growing economy and political stability.
The Fair and mission programme will cover a multitude of sectors including: Financial and Legal Services, Infrastructure, Power, Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Transportation, Environmental and Water Technology, Power and Engineering and Consultancy
