The MEA, in partnership with UKTI and the Kurdistan Regional Government, will be leading a Trade Delegation to Iraqi Kurdistan this October to coincide with the eighth Erbil International Trade Fair, Iraq’s largest general trade exhibition. Accompanying the mission will be Edward Oakden, Managing Director UKTI Strategic Trade Group and former Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

Mission Participants will have the opportunity to exhibit at the Fair’s British Pavilion, as well as to meet government ministers, senior business leaders, and the local Chambers of Commerce. Dates for the mission are 14-18 October, and 13-19 October for those exhibiting at the Erbil International Trade Fair.

This mission will have a particular focus on: education & training; energy; agriculture; and, construction & infrastructure. Each of these areas of interest will have a comprehensive mission programme organised by the KRG.

Kurdistan offers excellent business opportunities across many sectors, including: Construction; Housing & Infrastructure; Agriculture; Hotels & Tourism; Energy; Engineering; Healthcare; Technology; Telecommunications; Environment & Water; Financial & Legal Services; and, Education & Training.

In 2011, The 7th International Erbil Trade Fair welcomed a groundbreaking record of more than 73,000 professional visitors and hosted 850 exhibitors from 23 countries. Organisers are anticipating an even larger number of visitors for this year’s Fair.

The Kurdistan region remains one of the MEA’s major success stories. Last October, the MEA took 89 delegates to Kurdistan, including 20 exhibiting companies. It was the largest UK trade delegation to the region to date, and also the largest trade mission from the UK anywhere in the world last year. This mission will be the MEA’s twelfth to the region since 2006.
