The Middle East Association is leading a trade mission to Egypt, focusing on the Education/Training and ICT sectors. This follows our highly successful mission to the country in December 2008 and ‘Opportunity Egypt’, a trade and investment conference held in London in November 2009.
Education & Training:
The Egyptian government has made the Education sector a priority area for investment. Delegates will be invited to a conference in Cairo being organised by the British Council entitled: ‘Building Effective Employer Engagement’ from 15-17 March 2010. The Conference will bring together Egyptian and UK policy makers, business and training providers in Egypt. There are significant opportunities to form partnerships with local providers and to work collaboratively to build local skills training capacity across a wide range of sectors.
ICT:
In 2008, Egypt’s low operating costs, strong indigenous talent pool, established infrastructure and government support through the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) won it the accolade of the National Outsourcing Association’s Off-shoring Destination of the Year. Its ICT sector has been growing at 20% a year and offers burgeoning opportunities for hardware suppliers, software development and IT services. Several international firms are already established in the market, including HP, SQS and Vodafone. The MEA will work closely with the private sector IT Export Community of Egypt (ITEC) to explore the scope for UK-Egyptian partnerships in ICT.
